A Mindful approach to moving well and feeling good

Scaraveilli Yoga is all about freedom: freeing the body, and particularly the spine, to be light and flexible. It‘s a process of exploring how to remove conflict in body. Finding relationships between parts of the body that are more functional and movement that nourishes all of us. Alignment is something we find within that honours our own body rather than feeling we have to conform to a perfect posture. The Yoga is not the shapes we create but rather the mind body experience that unfolds as we use our mind to sense our body and become open to its wisdom in movement and stillness.

Mindfulness and Compassion practices are also an important part of my life and enrich my Yoga. I love these words of Vanda Scaraveilli which express this compassionate approach. "Do not look at your body like a stranger, but adopt a friendly approach towards it. Watch it, listen to it, observe its needs, its requests, and even have fun. To be sensitive is to be alive." I am also interested in what neuroscience has to teach us in Yoga and life about how to rewire our brain and regulate our nervous system. I weave these threads through my classes to bring a greater feeling of well being.

I have 18 years experience of teaching Yoga to a range of ages and abilities and also teaching Yoga teachers with the Anahata School of Yoga. I have trained in Dru Yoga, Hatha Yoga and most recently in Scarveilli-inspired Yoga with Marc J Acquaviva. I have done 4 years of training in Mindfulness & Compassion with the Mindfulness Association and am on the UK Listing of approved Mindfulness Teachers.
